supertree | A Traveller's Song

I’ve always wanted to visit Gardens by the Bay and I finally went in May. The main purpose was to visit the Tulipmania fair held in Flower Dome. As we went in the afternoon, we only visited the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertree Grove.

The Flower Dome houses many flowering plants, cacti and succulents. There are plants from different parts of the world such as Australia, South Africa, California, and parts of Italy and Spain. The cacti and succulents are the more interesting ones that attract me! You can even see some of them bearing flowers.

Next, we went to the Cloud Forest. That was a bit of a let down as the place looks very artificial with the man-made “mountain” and “waterfall”. But it was very cooling in the dome though and was a good escape from the outdoor heat.

Our last stop was the Supertree Grove. These supertrees are really spectacular! I heard that they were lighted up at night but I did not stay that long to take the pictures. For those of you who are into photography, you may want to stay later. I learnt that the 11 supertrees are embedded with environmentally sustainable functions like photovoltaic cells to harvest solar energy. Not only that, I remember reading from somewhere that these trees behave like real trees too, “photosynthesising” in the day and gives out oxygen.
